![]() If you’re creating custom Azure DevTest Labs artifacts then you’re probably fairly familiar with scripting and comfortable working from the command line. It’s easy once you learn the ropes-and so that’s what I’m going to show you now. And, after you too get comfortable with GitHub you’ll be able to easily add custom artifacts to your Azure DevTest Lab setup customized to your specific needs. Nowadays, I use GitHub and interact with various repos all day long. I know the first time someone sent me a link to a GitHub repo I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to push its buttons. I gave a few hints about folder structure and links to the great GitHub bootcamp documentation, but if you’re new to GitHub you might still be a little confused about just exactly how you’re supposed to interact with these repo things. With this quick and easy shortcut, you can streamline your workflow and get straight to work on your GitHub projects.In my last blog post I showed you how to add a custom GitHub repo to your Azure DevTest Labs setup. ![]() Additionally, you can also copy and paste the shortcut icon to your desktop for even easier access. This will allow you to launch GitHub Desktop directly from the taskbar. In order to paste the shortcut file in the designated directory, you will require administrator privileges. Once you're in the mentioned folder, paste the shortcut icon file there. Then, open Windows Explorer and browse to the following directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Create a shortcut icon for the GitHubDesktop.exe file. Next, navigate to the inside of the GitHubDesktop folder that you just pasted. Once you have successfully pasted the GitHub Desktop directory to your desired location, proceed to uninstall the software from your computer, which will remove the GitHub Desktop software from the C drive. Before copying the entire GitHub Desktop directory, it is recommended to log in to your account from the installed software. For example, I pasted the copied GitHub Desktop directory into my E drive. To relocate the GitHub Desktop software, simply copy the entire directory and paste it to your desired location. Let it be installed in the default C drive on your computer.Īfter installing GitHub Desktop software, you can find its installation location at C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Appdata\Local. You will not be provided an option to change the installation location during the installation process. Begin by downloading the GitHub Desktop software from the official website and installing it. This guide will explain how to install GitHub Desktop software on the E drive instead of the C drive. Uninstall GitHub Dekstop from your computer which is installed in C drive.Copy the files and then paste them into the desired installation location.Find the installation directory where GitHub Desktop is installed.By default, GitHub Desktop will be installed on the C drive of your computer.Double-click on the downloaded file to begin the installation process. ![]()
